TESTIMONIALS
L-3 CE Pasadena Operations has benefitted from education and training programs at Glendale College Professional Development Center (PDC). We manufacture a specialized product for the aerospace/defense industry faced with the challenge of delivering high quality and value to our customers. One of the keys to our success is the investment in education and training of our team through PDC.
I’ve sent staff members for training at the Glendale facility over the past six years and designed custom onsite courses with top-notch instructors.
Our organization has grown from an insignificant player in our industry to finding good traction. We are enjoying the journey to high performing organization. I’m gratified in the personal and professional growth of our team.

Electronic Source Company had implemented many Lean tenets and had instituted some Six Sigma processes to control variation. However, we needed to change our culture throughout the company from people understanding the ‘how to’ into a culture that recognizes the strength of the team and how to move the data to action and implementation as a team.
Partnering with PDC offered excellent care and flexibility to provide the customization that our program required. In our first class, employees in the office and on the production floor organized their projects, starting with a well formulated project statement, project goal, use of the analysis tools such as brainstorming, fishbone, variable control charts and placing results into run charts that are further refined.
The result was a reduction in receiving late deliveries from our suppliers, which historically had held up our production by 3 weeks to 60 days. This had an effect on inventory, reducing our inventory by 7% in just 3 months, which we plan to drop by 16% in another 6 months. Our vendors delivered on time only 75% of the time at the beginning of the process. In a few short months, we are now receiving 95% of their deliveries on time. We know, now, exactly how to measure and adjust to move that close to 100%.
Our kit auditing work was reduced by 55% and there is a plan in place to reduce it another 50%. This is significant in the number of kits audited per month, a savings of 2 hours every kit will increase to a savings of 6 hours every day kitting time, or $43,000 annual savings.
We are confident that our next project with the PDC and their instructor, John Sivie, that we will gain more in energizing the employees, setting baselines and clear goals that are visible to all of our employees. We look forward to growth from a sound foundation due to the assistance we have received from PDC training and consulting.

The Professional Development Center of Glendale Community College has offered many training opportunities to WorleyParsons. We are an International Engineering Contractor that services the Energy and Resources business such as Oil, Gas and Power companies. Our offices are located in Arcadia/Monrovia and we employ an average of about 900 professionals, mostly engineers.
The training that the Professional Development Center has been offering is invaluable to the growth and success of our organization. The variety of the classes and the subjects covered fit well with the type of work we do. We believe that enhancing the talent of our engineers makes us more competitive and contributes to our success. The ability to attend your courses after working hours makes it even more valuable and allows us to encourage more people to attend your classes. The Center’s flexibility to organize the training in our offices has made it even more successful since the engineers don't have take time off to travel to Glendale after work and more engineers can attend the evening classes.
Some of the more recent courses our engineers have attended include:
- Power of Collaboration
- Business Communications
- Leadership & Management
- APICS Detailed Scheduling & Planning
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & E-Com
- Hazardous Materials
- CPSM (Purchasing & Sourcing)
We have also had mini versions of some of the courses such as the Power of Collaboration that were tailored for specific Projects and for our management staff that were held onsite. Just about everyone who attended these classes has commented on the quality of the teachers and the practical experience they bring to the class. I just want to express our gratitude for such a valuable service and we wish you continued success because our success can be attributed to your contribution.

When Dynaroll first started out, some of the employees were concerned about the structure of the class. I communicated these concerns to you and you reacted immediately; working with Bill to changing the structure. First of all let me say I was actually surprised. In today’s business world you do not always get that kind of response to a concern; so I was pleasantly surprised that you not only fixed the problem but did so before the next class.
The training from PDC has allowed our machine shop and inspection personnel to work much better together. What was usually a difficult situation accompanied with blame is now a cooperative and smooth experience for not only these employees but for us in management. With less drama to deal with we have more time to work on the real issues.
The training also provided these employees with a level playing field with respect to how we look at drawings, inspection/measurement techniques. Before, there were disagreements now everyone is seeing things through the same eyes, so to speak. The other unexpected result of the class was a better relationship between people; this is always a welcomed result.
We are very proud of our employees to take their own time to increase their knowledge and to improve their performance. It was a pleasure working with both you, Connie and Bill. I look forward to future opportunities with PDC.
