CUSTOM TRAINING PROGRAMS

The PDC Creates Custom Training Programs that Address ALL of Your Company's Training Needs.

The training needs of many companies are too diverse and specialized to be fulfilled by a traditional curriculum of classes.

You may find your company only needs select elements of a training class... or you have specific training requirements that are not offered in a traditional class.

The ideal and most effective method for training employees is to design a custom program that addresses the myriad training needs within your company.

Few companies offer this service… but the PDC is the exception.  And we can create that program for you with ETP funding.

THERE ARE 5 STEPS TO CREATING A CUSTOM TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOUR COMPANY. CLICK EACH OF THE STEPS BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.

STEP 1 CONFIRM ETP

The first step in designing your custom training program is to verify your qualification for ETP funding.  As stated in our “How to Qualify” page, your company only needs to meet the following criteria:

California companies qualify to receive ETP-funded training for their employees providing they have less than a 21% turnover rate and can fulfill at least one (1) of the following four requirements:

  • The company’s primary business is manufacturing, pre-packaged software, or motion picture/video production.

  • Or, 25% or more of the company’s business is sold outside of the State of California using California employees.

  • Or, the company is losing business to competitors located outside California.

  • Or, none of the above apply, but the employees selected for training earn at least $26.17 per hour. (The value of company-paid medical benefits can be combined with the actual salary to meet the $26.17 minimum.)

For your company employees to receive ETP-funded training, they must meet all five of the following requirements:

  • The employee is a full-time (minimum of 35 hours per week), permanent employee earning a minimum of $15.70 per hour. (The value of your company-paid medical benefits can be added to your salary to meet the $15.70 minimum.)

  • The employee is committed to completing training and will remain employed for 90 days after training.

  • The employee did not attend another contractor’s ETP funded class in the last 90 days.

  • The employee is not a top-level executive who sets company policy.

  • The employee is not currently enrolled in a work share program.

After your company qualification is verified, we determine the amount of ETP funding available to you and move to Step 2.

(Note: in the event you do not qualify for ETP funding, we can still create and implement a custom training program for a competitive fee.)

STEP2-REVIEW_OBJECTIVES

The first major step is to review your company’s productivity objectives and assess the current skill levels of your employees.

  • What are the employees’ skill deficiencies and how do they affect goal realization?

  • What specific areas of training are needed?

  • How do the PDC’s 15 major training categories conform to your employees’ training needs?

  • What additional categories of training are required?  (Note: you are not restricted to the PDC’s 15 major categories.  There are also limitless subcategories of training you can explore.)

Based on this information, we determine the degree of training required.  Training in specific categories or disciplines can range from 1-day overview to comprehensive 2- to 6-month sessions.

STEP3_CUSTOM_PROGRAM

Six major categories comprise the foundation of the PDC’S custom training programs:

Computer Skills
Con
tinuous Improvement
Engineering & Design
Leadership & Operations Management
Management & Team Skills
Manufacturing Skills

The six categories are only a foundation.  After identifying the specific categories and levels of training your company requires, the design of the custom training program begins.

The program options are often compared to an elaborate buffet: in addition to 15 main entrees, you have myriad side dishes to choose from, and you take as much as you want of each selection.  There are no set portions, no restrictions, and no limits.

After the Custom Training Program is drafted, expert instructors are selected, a detailed strategy and timeline for implementation is proposed, and measurable outcomes are projected.

STEP4_SELECT_LOCATION

An important decision in the design of the custom training program is the selection of locations to conduct the training.

Traditionally, employees receive instruction at a training facility in a formal classroom setting.  This is an effective location for many classes, but the PDC offers an even more effective option:  we can conduct training at your company worksite—even at your employees’ actual workstations.  You determine the actual company locations and the schedule that is most convenient for your operation.

You may even decide that a combination of locations works best for you—the PDC training center, your workplace, or other locations.

STEP5_CONTRACT

With all the variables in place, the ETP contract is issued and training begins. All required books, manuals, materials, and supplies are provided by the PDC.
