This course is the capstone module in the APICS CPIM certification series. It is intended for Operations and Supply Chain professionals who have completed the recommended prerequisites (shown below) and who have a solid understanding of the APICS Body of Knowledge terminology and concepts.
It is also recommended as a stand-alone course for middle managers and executives who want to learn how to align operational plans with business strategy.
Strategic Management of Resources describes in detail the process of developing business and operations strategy for manufacturing, distribution and service organizations. It is highly recommended for anyone taking the APICS CPIM certification exams.
Students taking this course should have completed one or more of the four CPIM certification modules: Basics of Supply Chain Management, Master Planning of Resources, Detailed Scheduling & Planning, or Execution and Control of Operations and possess a good understanding of the concepts and terminology presented in the APICS Body of Knowledge. Basics of Supply Chain Management is the recommended prerequisite for all CPIM training.
This course addresses how Business and Strategic Planning, based on external and internal environmental factors, guides Operations Strategy and defines the key performance factors (cost, dependability, speed, flexibility, and quality) at the operational level for manufacturing and service industries.
It addresses the choices in designing the structure (products, processes, and capital investments), and infrastructure (workforce involvement, quality and information systems, and organizational design) of the organization to support its strategic objectives.
Students will also learn how to align their operation’s strategy with that of their supply chain partners. Emerging topics in global environment and sustainability are covered, along with how to manage change.
