Have you ever worked in an environment in which the management just couldn’t seem to get it together? Unfortunately, when the leaders of a company are not doing their jobs properly or are disorganized, their shortcomings often trickle down in the company. Whether you are a team leader or you want to be a team leader in your company, The Professional Development Center at the Glendale Community College can help you. Our learning center features an amazing course titled, “Team Development for Leaders and Influencers.” This effective ten-week course requires no prerequisites, so you simply need the motivation to learn and grow. Today, we would like to cover just a few of the many topics we cover in this informative course:

Active Listening

When you are actively listening, you are listening with all of your senses, and not just passively hearing what is said. When engaging in active listening, you are engaging in feedback with the speaker through both verbal and nonverbal communication. Some feedback includes nodding, smiling, and agreeing by saying “yes.” By providing feedback, the speaker will feel more comfortable communicating with you. All relationships, whether business or personal, benefit from great communication. Active listening fosters excellent lines of communication.

Facilitation

Facilitation skills refer to the skills needed to guide key parts of organization work for different types of group meetings. Facilitators help to guide people through projects and focus on how people participate in projects. Good facilitation skills help leaders keep employees positively involved in work projects.

Presentation

As a leader, you want to present your ideas and information as clearly and as effectively as possible. When presenting your ideas, you want to connect to the people listening to you. It’s important for your presentation to come across as interesting rather than just informational. Our team development program will help you refine your speaking skills so that you can present with confidence and ease.

Time Management

No matter what your role in your workplace, having effective time management skills are crucial to success. Truthfully, we could all benefit from improving our time management skills both within and outside of the workplace. With only so many hours in the day, you want to work smarter at your job rather than working harder. Our time management program helps you to effectively plan and organize your time to increase your efficiency and productivity. By learning effective time management skills, you will be able to meet your deadlines in a timely manner without feeling rushed or stressed.

Setting Goals

Setting goals helps you to find direction and motivation so that you can focus on the task that you would like to achieve. One of the important aspects about setting goals is to set goals that are truly important to you. You do not want to waste your time working on goals that do not hold much interest to you. When you set goals for yourself, you are also forced to hold yourself accountable for your actions.

Project Management

Project management uses a variety of skills, actions, and procedures to manage a project from start to finish. Project management executes the planning, operation, and organization of a project. When you learn effective project management skills, you can effectively organize and run projects at your place of work.

Risk Analysis

When you are a leader, you will most likely have to determine any risks involved when making decisions. Risk analysis involves determining and managing any problems that could arise in business projects.

Our team development program covers a variety of topics to help you build your leadership skills as well as your team skills. Contact the Professional Development Center at Glendale Community College to learn more.
